Bahá’ís of Douglas County, Colorado
A Community Rooted in Unity, Friendship, and Service across Douglas County, people are coming together in homes and community spaces to pray, build friendships, support the spiritual development of children and youth, and find practical ways to serve.
Some who participate are Bahá’ís. Many are friends, neighbors, and families who are simply looking for meaningful connection, thoughtful conversation, or a way to contribute to the life of the community.
What brings us together is a shared belief that spiritual principles can help us build stronger relationships, more caring neighborhoods, and a more unified society.
The Bahá’í Faith in Brief

The Bahá’í Faith is an independent world religion founded by Bahá’u’lláh. Its teachings center on the oneness of God, the essential unity of the world’s religions, and the oneness of humanity.
Bahá’ís believe that every person has a role to play in building a more peaceful and just world. Spiritual growth and service go hand in hand, and lasting change begins when people learn to work together with honesty, compassion, and respect.

The teachings of the Bahá’í Faith include the elimination of prejudice, the equality of women and men, harmony between science and religion, universal education, and the importance of justice and unity in human affairs.

Our Community in Douglas County
​
The Bahá’í community has been present in Colorado for more than a century, and a local community gradually took shape in Douglas County as individuals and families settled throughout the area.
Today, our community includes people from different backgrounds, cultures, professions, and life experiences. We are connected by a common desire to deepen our spiritual lives, strengthen bonds of friendship, and serve alongside our neighbors.

Much of our community life begins simply: a few people gathering in a home for prayer, children learning about kindness and justice, young people developing confidence and a sense of purpose, or friends coming together to study and reflect on how spiritual principles can be expressed in daily life.
We do not believe that any one person or group has all the answers. We seek to learn together, listen carefully, consult openly, and respond to the needs of our community with humility and action.

Building Community Together
​
Our community life includes devotional gatherings, study circles, children’s classes, junior youth groups, and opportunities for service and social action.
​
These activities are not offered only for Bahá’ís. They are open to everyone and grow through the participation, ideas, and talents of people from many backgrounds.
​
Some people join because they are curious about the Bahá’í Faith. Others are looking for a place to pray, meaningful activities for their children, thoughtful conversation, or a way to know and serve their neighbors more deeply.
​
There is no fee to participate, and no prior knowledge of the Bahá’í Faith is needed.

The Local Spiritual Assembly
​
The Bahá’í Faith has no clergy. Instead, the affairs of the community are guided by elected institutions.
Each year, the Bahá’ís of Douglas County elect a nine-member Local Spiritual Assembly. The Assembly helps nurture the spiritual life of the community, supports local activities, provides guidance and encouragement, and attends to the administrative responsibilities of the Bahá’í community.
Its role is one of service. The Assembly works through consultation and seeks to support the community with care, fairness, and unity.

You Are Welcome

Wherever you are beginning, you are welcome.
​
You may attend a devotional gathering, join a study circle, ask about activities for children or junior youth, participate in a service project, or simply reach out with a question.
​
There is no expectation that you believe a certain way or make any commitment. You are welcome to come, listen, participate at your own pace, and get to know the community.
